Coro Perosi is a non-profit making music organization established since 1997. Since then, we had organized several concerts and had been invited for performances in Hong Kong and Zhongshan. By year 2002, we had participated in the 6th International Music Festival in Beijing, China; and had won the copper prize. Besides regular practices, we also invite individual voice soloists to train our members. We are an energetic choir in Macau.

Perosi Choir’s Musical Tour in Austria
“Choral Works of Father Guilherme Wilhelm Schmid in Macao (1939-1966) – Preview Concert in Macao”
24th July, 2011, St. Dominic’s Church
At the kind invitation of Mayor Herbert Worschitz of Hornstein, Perosi Choir will visit the birthplace of Father Guilherme Wilhelm Schmid in August. The Choir will perform in Hornstein the works which Father Schmid wrote in Macao, as well as choral works from a number of composers of Macao.
Father Guilherme Wilhelm Schmid (1910-2000), a prolific composer and eminent figure in the development of 20th-century music in Macao, is much loved by the people of Macao. His works are mostly Catholic sacred music, some of which are masses. He also arranged many musical pieces for the Macao Police Brass Band at the time. In 1939, Father Schmid was invited to come to Macao to run St. Joseph’s Seminary where he conducted the orchestra and taught Gregorian music. He served for 12 years as instructor of the Macao Police Brass Band. In addition, he worked as a music professor at St. Pio X Academy of Music, and as the headmaster of Instituto Salesiano. His 27 years of work in Macao saw the birth of many musicians and music organizations.
Before we bring Father Schmid’s legacy back to his hometown, Perosi Choir will present to all local music enthusiasts “Choral Works of Father Guilherme Wilhelm Schmid in Macao (1939-1966) – Preview Concert in Macao”. The concert will be held in St. Dominic’s Church at 8p.m. on Sunday, 24th July (free admission).
